from the nothing
out of the abysmal chaos
the silence broken by the barriers of sound
that is thought
stuttered into utterances
i become the everything
soon to be despised by nothing
the very thing that i am
consumed by fire
scorched like the black bird
only i’ve lost my wings
until i speak
from my soul are these words
when they leave this body
i am then transformed
from this feeble shell
that seem to feel like a five-foot nine
thirty-Six inches wide cell
into something greater than myself
between the time it takes for the words
to part my lips to arrive at your ears
i am at the mercy of your thoughts
tossed about like shuffled feet
who is it that you think that I am
a poet
waiting to be judged on poise
to have my body language autopsied
as you sift through my bones
like the swift wind that passes my door
i am merely the messenger delivering
a message so don’t shoot me
don’t let vox populi by the reason i die
at least not until you see the plenary power
of the words…
let them sink in
let your brain settle as they take root
sprout
and give new perspective
new light to the darkness you didn’t know was there
before you pass your final judgment
let them speak to the muted silence
and give life
