no more coffee with my father

By

let the coffee mourn

grief frothing old news stories

forgetting love now

silent

vaped conversations

lingering absorbent air

pain in a brewed cup.

steam forming apparitions

curling emotions as cream

assimilates into brown

feeling the tears migrate

like a flock heading south for winter

we last sat here before the sunrise

I’m glad we got that last cup.
