The Struggle for Fervor (a poem to her)

By

the places we remember,

the songs we forget,

smiles faded like the sun stretched prostrate across the land//

the love that hugged the night keeping her children warm.

I know her

her smile can be seen for miles

letting her love be the sustenance

strength, her valorousness of woman

a debt none can settle

save to love her in return//

where has the time gone,

flown south for the season

funny the wings of time

much misplaced in the shuffles

in the struggle for fervor.
