Before there was "erotica"

There was a time when poetry was about the revolution, about uplifting the minds the oppressed; it spewed struggle and justice to the injustices committed.  Even with its radical tempo, it was not without its respectable love poetry; I mean it was even the most outspoken revolutionist who paid homage to the strength of any people…our women.  Before there was this taste for the hyper-sexualized contents, that men spoke to the souls of our women as heard in this beautiful poem…

Greeting from the East Ahki Chenyelu,You are indeed a scholar amongst us, and your words and wisdom give great nourishment to both mind and soul; therefore, I give thanks. In the matter of this "verbal debauchery" that lingers as a Succubus amongst us, like a wolf waiting for a single lamb to lay astray is becoming more monstrous by a single revolution of a clock. Yet I am no less surprised that it is at such a climax (if you will) amongst the community of pseudo- artists (any one can say anything, doesn’t make every talker an artist) who spend most of their mental faculties in sexual deviance. In some logical thought, it stands in one opinion, that this at one point could be viewed as a growing community of perverts (the kind that end up on a predator’s list). When I was a young man, such thoughts, and much more, speaking in such a manner was reason enough to be labeled a deviant, but times have indeed flipped the script to where deviance is the new manners.
