IIt is in my belief system that we are all positioned in random events for a purpose; these often lead to a greater act. It is up to us to see the blessing in it all. Within the universe there exist a deeper connection between us, that is greater than anything we can do for ourselves; and know that there is always a divine power that is involved.
This is a true story:
While packing the groceries into the back of the truck yesterday;
I saw a woman (stranger #1) who was struggling at her car, trying to get to the keys she unfortunately locked inside the car. Once I was done with the task of loading the truck I offered to help, but she was almost hesitant but I persisted. After ten gruesome minutes of working an old rusted hanger into her car to jimmy the lock she told me she had called for a locksmith and it would be about $70; I told her that I am sure we can manage without her having to pay the high cost for a simple mistake. Back to working hard at getting this hanger down to the lock—by the way, in case you’re wondering; I’ve never done this before despite the expectations— and in about two minutes BAM!!! We’re in!!! She thanked me and I headed back to my car, but then I saw her running behind me with smiles and her hand extended she said “I really just appreciate your kindness, please take this!”, what she was offering was a $20 bill. Now, of course I did this out of the kindness of my heart, so I told her “it’s not necessary, I can’t take this”. But no matter how many times I said no, she insisted to the point of saying “YES IT IS NECESSARY!” and shoved it into my hand, then ran off screaming “Thank You!”
Down the road about two miles my wife thinks that she needs to run into another store, so I park while she ran in. While sitting in the truck listening to some jazz; up walks this elderly lady (stranger #2) who seemed to be trying to get my attention. I rolled the window down when she asked if I had a few to spare to help her and her boys eat. Now, just before I could part my prejudgmental lips to say “I’m sorry” my hands reached into the cup holder and retrieved the $20 that I’d received not more than 15 minutes, and 3 miles back; I handed it to her and said “God bless you!”. Because in that moment, I only heard “IT IS NECESSARY!” and this woman, no matter her plight was there to show me that it is all relative. Every Act of Random Kindness is an opportunity for us to find the answers we seek.
