day greeted with optimism
in a coltrane mind frame
miles of blue cool blow in through twisted brass
fresh mint and wild honey sweetens the soul
heard a child’s voice that snatched my heart
her spoken words were more profound than its rudiments
the birth of her language innocent until given reason
the most egregious of influences
will taint her despite their best intentions
exercising their “freedom of speech”
the only thing is that there is less freedom speaking
give her time let her remain virginal
poetic minds indulgence quenches thirst like
an old desert poem that dreams of the ocean worlds away
midday dreams of Eden and afternoon nightmares
just want to be lazy today pretend not to care
watching from side view in a bird’s eyeview
soaring beyond letting my wings catch some wind
inhale
exhale
learn to let go of the air i don’t need
inhale
exhale
today i let my soul sail free in lazy afternoon
