awakening consciousness
before the stars vanished
marathons through the hours
of open conversations
sages of the ages
discussing love and faith over tea
like ancient souls deciphering divine philosophy
but she wants to know how to find peace
between two hearts
one healing and the other broken
looking for a place to rest in compromise
reminded of the wrinkled note in the darkness
of my linty right pocket
which feels the hunger pains of a recession
the note scribbled with dirty and half worn ink
it reads “everyone deserves love equally”
thank you achkoti
shalom
wrapped around me like a lover who has a secret
a secret to enlightenment to give me
her breath refreshing as the sunset that graces my porch
children play in the distance
listening to the airplanes come and go from nowhere to everywhere
drowning out her whispered words
while cold olympians race to the heat
its winter in america
and ayitians search for love and food to eat
eyes shift elsewhere
because we are the world
is just another remix for the latest gadgets
to boom through and smile
can i touch the sound
hear the textures
see the silence
to know the beauty of faith and love
today
